Patrick Geyer, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 13, after a Bridgeport Police officer tracked him to a Chinese food restaurant following the attack, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.
According to Jones, the two women were allegedly robbed around 1:30 p.m. by two men, one which had a gun and took one of the victim's belongings.
The women then chased the men and the robbers dropped the stolen items as the fled, said Jones.
"The victims were able to provide a description of the perpetrators to responding officers and identified the male with the gun as a person she knew as 'Pat,' " he said.
During a canvass of the area, an officer located a man riding a bicycle on East Main Street who fit the description of the suspect with the gun.
The officer watched as the man entered a Chinese food restaurant and was able to detain him without incident, Jones said.
Following his arrest, a handgun was found, police said.
Geyer was charged with robbery and weapons offenses. His bond was set at $50,000.
The second suspect was not found.
